Familias de Exito Church
At the heart of our approach is working with existing church congregations who are respected and missionally minded within the communities we serve. Our primary partner in the Sierra Norte is Familias de Exito Church, made up of a core congregation in Chicontla and several other congregations in small mountain villages in the area. Under the leadership of Pastor Horacio Méndez Cruz, Familias de Exito is the generator of ideas, effort and volunteers that serve the local communities in ways that outsiders can’t. CGC, in turn, provides resources and relational support to the leaders of Familias de Exito to keep them encouraged and equipped to serve those in need. .
Compassion International
Compassion International are child advocates, dedicated to releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Through sponsorships and donations, they empower local churches to love, care for and protect children in poverty so they’re free to learn, grow, play and dream. Well over 355 million children are trapped in poverty. Poverty damages children’s growth, learning and development, preventing them from reaching their God-given potential.
But Jesus cares for the most vulnerable and calls us to do the same. At Compassion International, we’re following in his footsteps.
Compassion International is:
• Christ-centered. Children living in poverty need the hope of the gospel. That’s why we share the gospel with every single child in a way they can understand. We go beyond offering humanitarian aid, introducing children to Jesus, their eternal hope.
• Church-driven. Local churches know best the needs of children living in their communities. We partner with local churches only, giving them the resources they need to know, love and protect children in need.
• Child-focused. No two children are the same. Our local church partners tailor their support to each child’s unique needs.
Because supporting local churches is a central part of Coffee Growing Community’s mission, work with CI is a natural fit. CGC has helped fund the building and expansion of CI centers at Iglesia de Familias de Exito congregations who serve Chicontla and other remote communities throughout the Sierra Norte.
